Conference Venue & Accomodation

The 8th IADI ARC Annual Meeting and the International Conference would be held at Hotel Taj Exotica, a five-star hotel located on the southwest coast of Goa, overlooking the Arabian Sea.

January is the peak tourist season for Goa, which attracts a lot of domestic and foreign tourists. Adequate number of rooms have been blocked at the hotel for the stay of the participants. We shall arrange to book the rooms for the participants on receipt of Registration Form from them.

The Hotel has agreed for the following special rates for the participants:

  • INR 12,500 per night for rooms with single occupancy
  • INR 14,000 per night for rooms with double occupancy
    (US $1 is currently quoted at around INR 47)

The above rates are inclusive of breakfast, taxes and airport transfers.

Welcome Dinner – January 17, 2010

The welcome dinner will be at the Pool-side of Hotel Taj Exotica. Dinner will commence at 8.00pm. The dress code is business casual.

8th Annual Meeting of the Asia Regional Committee - January 18, 2010

Registration for the 8th Annual Meeting of the Asia Regional Committee will start at 8.15 am on January 18, 2010 and the meeting will be held between 8.30 am to 10.30 am. The dress code is business formal.

International Conference – January 18-19, 2010

The International Conference will commence at 11.00 am on January 18, 2010. Tea/Coffee/Lunch on the Conference days will be served in the adjacent lobby. The dress code is business formal.

Other Events

Dinner along with cultural programme will be arranged at private beach of Hotel Taj Exotica on January 18, 2010. Cultural programme and dinner will be organised on cruise over Mondovi River on January 19, 2010. On January 20, 2010, a full-day sightseeing tour of Goa will be arranged with lunch at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Panaji.

Reaching Goa

Goa is well connected to all major Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. Dabolim Airport in Goa is an hour’s flight from Mumbai and Bangalore and about two and a half hours from Delhi and Kolkata. Participants travelling via New Delhi and Mumbai will have to change from international to domestic terminal (and vice versa at the time of return) which are some distance apart.

Normally coaches for inter-terminal transfers are provided by the Airlines. Further information in regard to the International Airports at New Delhi and Mumbai can be found at their website.

Immigration

Foreign visitors entering India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and a valid Indian Visa. We would like to advise participants to obtain necessary visa prior to arrival as there is no system of ‘visa on arrival’ in India. Arrival & Departure

If there are any subsequent changes to the travel itinerary as advised at the time of filling the registration form, please let us know as soon as possible. We will be providing airport transfers to you upon your arrival and departure at Goa.

Time

India is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+5.5).

Weather

The climate in Goa is generally pleasant throughout the year. The temperature in January usually hovers between 19 to 29 degrees Celsius (66 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit). With proximity to the Arabian Sea, humidity in Goa is relatively high averaging around 50 per cent.

Currency

Indian Rupee (INR), called ‘Rupee’ (symbol is Rs.) in India is the currency of the country. The conversion rate is approximately US$1 = Rs.47. Click for Daily Reference Exchange Rates. Notes are issued in denominations of Rs.5, Rs.10, Rs.20, Rs50, Rs.100, Rs.500 and Rs.1, 000. There are also Rupee 1, Rs.2, and Rs.5 and Rs.10 coins in circulation. Most foreign currencies and travellers’ cheques are easily exchanged at banks, hotels or licensed money changers. All major credit cards are widely accepted.

Electricity

The electrical systems in India run at single phase voltage of 230 Volts AC (50 Hz. Frequency) and socket types C & D
